The only reason why I wanted Letters to Juliet is because it stars Amanda Seyfried. I like that very talented girl. So when I found out that the movie’s already released here, why not take the chance to watch it. Amanda plays the role of Sophie (yup, Sophie again why didn’t they just change names?!), a fact checker (I didn’t know that’s a job!) from New York who has this great talent in writing but unfortunately wasn’t able to use it for a living. Sophie is engaged to her fiance who is more interested in wines, cheese and pasta. They went to Italy to find suppliers for her fiance’s upcoming restaurant. In Italy, Sophie got into this place where women write letters to Juliet (Capulet, who else) about their love problems. At the end of the day, someone gets the letters, puts it in a basket and is then shared to fellow ladies. This piqued Sophie’s interest and inside a room she found the secretaries of Juliet, who answers the letters women post on the wall. To make the story short, Sophie replied to a letter stuck in the stonewall for a very long time. The lady who wrote the letter is still hoping she’d meet her one true love which she lost when she was young. Accompanied by her grandson they went to Italy to find the man she loves the most which Sophie partakes also. Of course, the lady found her one true love. And Sophie? Well, you could watch the film to know what happened to her. :P
The movie made me realized two things: I should visit Italy before I grow old and weak and I should start writing again. The movie made me fell in love with Italy. I wanted to go there and taste all the pizza, pasta and gellato that I could. Writing on the other hand is a hobby I have forgotten or maybe it’s just something I grew lazy with. Well, I’ll try to rekindle my love for writing again. Hopefully this is the start.
